A Georgian portrait miniature sepia watercolour ivory memorial brooch, late 18th century, of elongated oval form with hand painted panel depicting woman holding a dove, within unmarked rose gold closed-back setting, with blue enamel and split pearl surround, suspended from later 9ct white gold sapphire and pearl bar brooch, panel height 28.8mm, bar brooch length 44.2mm, 7.7g. This item has been registered as exempt from the UK Ivory Act 2018 on account of it being a portrait miniature made before 1918 with a surface area less than 320 square centimetres. Ivory panel has a vertical split all the way through the image, enamel has several surface chips, all pearls present, some slightly discoloured, Georgian panel was once a clasp for a bracelet/necklace, brooch fitting on later suspending bar working perfectly, mark clear, stamped 9ct
