An Extinct Elephant Bird Eggshell. A piece of eggshell from the extinct Elephant bird known as Aepyornis, the bird, the largest to have ever existed, was once endemic to Madagascar but became extinct in circa 1,000 CE (around 1,000 years ago), they laid the largest ever known egg, with a liquid capacity of 8.5 litres - and equivalent of 7 ostrich or 183 chicken eggs! A fantastic natural history curiosity. Suspended in a membrane display frame.
