Emile Galle (1846-1904), a pair of Art Nouveau faience pottery cats, with applied glass eyes, both with makers marks GR and Cross of Lorraine to base, height 33cm
Cats appear to be 2 close looking examples, left cat in photograph has a join mark running from base up through chest and develops into a firing crack which is 15cm long and means sound is slightly dull, tip of right ear has a restored chip, glazing on base of back is quite heavily pitted and there are several other surface glazing chips on underside of belly and paws, light crazing all over. Right cat in photograph has a fully restored left ear and partially edge restored right ear with several overpainted chips on mouth and nose, 1 overpainted chip on back of head, 1 small chip on top of back, 2 on tail and several smaller overpainted chips on paws, both are from a local private house
