A gilt metal and enamel sarcophagus opening to reveal a (removable) mummy. The mummy’s gilt and enamelling remaining bright. Intricately detailed, with blue, white and turquoise enamel. Hieroglyphics to reverse.
In the 1920s there was a surge of interest in Egyptology after the discovery of the tomb of Tutankhamun.
A rare survivor to be complete with the tiny mummy still within. Dimensions - overall length 3.2cms
