An exceptionally fine and complete Victorian travelling dressing case by F West, Manufacturer to Her Majesty and The Royal Family, No. 1 St James's Street, London, the brass-bound ebonised case extensively fitted with original accoutrements, numerous cut-glass jars with engraved silver-gilt tops, silver-mounted inkwells, mother-of-pearl handled manicure items, propelling pencil/dip pen with bloodstone seal top, sewing items and engraved silver beaker, the vanity case cover having a secret compartment concealing a leather-covered dressing table mirror and hand mirror, the vanity case also having a secret lower drawer, opened using an implement within the lock mechanism, opening to reveal a leather ledger and further jewellery tray with velvet lining, hallmarks for Abraham Brownett, London 1866, case measures 37cm x 27.5cm, height 21cm, in original brown leather outer case
Wonderful bright and original condition, the lid has a very slight fine split near the back right-hand corner, the interior is all in extremely fine and bright original condition with several lift-out trays, the only fitting missing is a pair of tweezers, the outer leather case is original with some split stitching, monograms on case and bottles is CHK
