A large Milton Shield by Elkington and Co, signed Morel Ladeuil Fecit 1866. Electroplate convex panel in original frame, depicting a scene from Miltons' Paradise Lost. This is a period copy of the original made by Elkington for the 1867 Paris Exhibition for which it won a gold medal, the original is in the Victoria and Albert Museum.
In good condition, rubbed to high points revealing the copper and brass base metal. A plaque applied to the back reads "Elkington - Department of Science and Art".
