An Edwardian colour-change Sri Lankan sapphire and diamond 'Witch's Heart' brooch, circa 1905, the openwork frame set with a central oval cushion-cut sapphire drop suspended from a border of collet set old-cut diamonds, apparently unmarked in gold and silver, 24.4mm, 4.7g, in fitted Collingwood Jewellers Ltd case
No damage or repair, all stones present, sapphire is a light purplish cornflower blue and changes slightly under different light sources, facet edges are lightly abraded, diamonds are bright and fiery some having a slight yellow tint, brooch fitting working, unmarked. Verbal report from GCS stating sapphire is colour-change variety with an origin of Sri Lanka and having no indications of heating.
