A fine large 19th Century toleware tea canister and cover, octagonal pagoda form with maroon ground, gilded Chinoiserie decoration, character marks and figure holding a staff, H46cm, marked Sutcliffe Manchester to the underside
Nice, original untouched condition. No repair or holes. Visible all over surface dents. Visible surface paint loss in places, in particular along the fluted top and lid which is also dented. Gilding rubbed. Lid fits nicely.
