A 19th century Black Forest musical jewel box, surmounted by 2 hens and a chick, the hinged lid opening to reveal 4 compartments and a musical movement to the base, playing on a 10cm cylinder operated by a pull cord, W27cm

Generally in very good untouched condition, the right-hand hen has had the tail broken and re-glued, also a chip to the tip of a piece of foliage at the back, mechanism in good working order, teeth all perfect, original brass winding key, but no key for the cabinet
