SAMPSON MORDAN & CO - a good quality late Victorian silver and enamel Vesta case, London 1891, rectangular form with blue hand painted white enamel cover bearing details "Colonel Clark Forrest, 5th VB The Scottish Rifles. Udston. Imperial Union Club", with engraved date on base 1888 - 93 opening to reveal gilt interior with personalised engraving "From yours very sincerely M Sectran Capt", 6cm x 3.5cm, 1.7oz. Notes: Colonel John Jack Forrest was the Provost of Hamilton, Justice of Grace and Assistant Sheriff-Substitute of Lanarkshire and lived in various large houses around Hamilton including Udston and later died at Udston House on the 28th August 1893
