A good quality 19th century Jacques Staunton chess set, weighted boxwood and ebony, in original mahogany box with label, serial no. 1850, King height 11cm
Generally in good original condition. Some surface marks from storage.
Black King is missing the tiny bead from the top of the cross.
2 of the black knights and 1 white knight have tiny chips on the tips of their ears.
One White Rook has a small split at base.
One Black Pawn has a small split at base.
Both Black Bishops have cracks at base
One Black Rook has a crack at base
King is stamped Jaques London, box has a few light water stains, original key but missing escutcheon. There are two additional good quality matching black pawns, probably replacements for two with damage to collar which both have small missing sections.
