An unusual Chinese gilded and lacquered box in the form of a butterfly, the interior fitted with nesting shaped and gilded boxes on 2 levels, late 19th century, 38cm x 23.5cm, height 10.5cm
The outer box is worn and discoloured but no splits or repairs, very slightly warped, the inner boxes are in very good bright condition, gilding all good
