Curiosity/Macabre : Minature Barrel carved from a Piece of the bowsprit from Lord Nelson’s flagship HMS Victory.
A curious piece of naval history. A barrel-shaped matchstick holder crafted from wood removed from the bowsprit from Horatio Nelson's flagship the HMS Victory. A brass metal identification plaque on the front reads: "From the Bowsprit of HMS Victory, (Nelson's Flagship Trafalgar 1805), Purchased 2nd June 1937”.
In fine condition.
In May 2023, a similar example realised $3,336 at RR Auctions, USA.
