A Fairbairn Sykes Fighting Knife, WW2 era 2nd patten by Wilkinson Sword Ltd, London, etched makers details to blade, blued steel cross guard, brass handle has been bound in string, in original leather sheath with bronze chape, length 30cm
Good condition, sheath is a little work and elastic clip is detached on one side, blade etching is crips and shows minor signs of wear. The knife is originally owned by the vendor's father, the sheath stitching has worn away and has been glued together around top, sheath is marked with a number 2 on reverse embossed in leather, the knife handle has been wrapped with string and has a resin/glue to surface which gives it a varnished appearance, only the metal tip of the original grip can be seen at end, this has a steel tip with blackened metal around end, the blade shows signs of sharpening to edges, etching is clear to both sides of blade, reading Wilkinson Sword Ltd London with crossed swords to 1 side and the F-S Fighting Knife to reverse
