A large 19th century Anglo-Indian padouk wood 4-section D-end dining table, with leaf carved edge and relief carved acanthus and urn scroll frieze, raised on bell flower carved and panelled tapered legs, comprising a pair of centre drop leaf tables and a pair of D-end tables, ex-property of Major General John Ponsonby (1866 - 1952) Coldstream Guards, served in Second Boar War and South Africa 1902, after war became General Officer commanding Madras District of India, retired 1926 to Haile Hall Cumbria, table bears original handwritten label under top "General Ponsonby", width 1.2m, overall length approx 3.1m
